New look for "YouTube" and additional features

On Tuesday, YouTube introduced a new design with some additional features on the smartphone app and the desktop version.

The move is part of the Google-owned company's plan to add new functionality that matches the look of the site on desktop computers, TVs and mobile smart devices of all kinds.

The new look is based on the Dark Theme feature, which turns the background into a dark color while watching for a more cinematic look, with a brighter red logo and icon.

It is noteworthy that YouTube maintained its official logo for nearly 12 years.

When the platform was launched 12 years ago, it supported a single video format with a resolution of 320 x 240 and a 4:3 aspect ratio, while today it allows users to watch any SD, HD, 4K, 360, 3D and live streaming videos on every internet-connected device.
